Historic Saltaire & Haworth, the Home of the Brontes
On the Saturday we will visit Saltaire Village, a magnificent World Heritage Site, built by Sir Titus Salt in during the Industrial Revolution, today its famous mill has been preserved and reeks of history. But this is just the beginning as the village has so much to discover. See here – https://saltairevillage.info/index.html
We will stay the nearby, first rate Abbey Lodge Hotel on a B&B basis on the Saturday night before venturing off to Haworth on the Sunday. This small town has been preserved in history and we will have free time to wander up the steep, cobbled main street with its traditional shops, including the Apothecary where Branwell Bronte is said to have satisfied his Laudanum habit, before heading off for a beer or two in the Black Bull. Just down the road is the fascinating Bronte house and Parsonage Museum, that takes you back to the days when the sisters wrote those famous, moving and provocative novels.
I hope you can join our small group as we emerge ourselves in a weekend of historic Yorkshire.
