A Weekend exploring the ancient sites of the Dramatic Welsh Landscapes
Castle Dinas Bran, Overlooking Llangollon
The beautiful landscapes and panoramic coastlines of North Wales hide a treasure trove of historical sites ranging from the natural sacred Waterfall at Dyserth, the ancient Well in Holyhead, to man made Neolithic monuments such as the standing stones in the Gwytherin churchyard and the burial chamber at Capel Garmon. We will be visiting all of these together with Maen Achwyfan, a huge Christianised Ancient Cross, two of the earliest Templar graves and as many more sites as we can fit in. These hills and valleys were also reputed to have been the home of King Arthur and the Welsh Grail legend and we will be visiting associated sites. The amazing hill top fort of Dinas Bran, overlooking the town of Llangollen, where we will stay for the night, is said to have been built to hold the Holy Grail. Also Valle Crusis Abbey, Eliseg’s Pillar and Arthur’s Stone in Ruthin all have their Arthurian connections.
