Brougham Castle
£13.50 – £26.50
£10 + P&P
This grand old fortress has been part of the historic scene of Westmorland, now Cumberland, since Robert de Vieuxpont, built the first stone keep around 1214. The castle transferred to the Clifford family, who rebuilt the wooden palisade in stone around 1300 and it eventually fell under the ownership of the infamous Lady Anne Clifford.
On this fine summer day Brougham forms a fine composition with its reflection in the River Eamont.
